What's the largest cam I can run with 2.02 valve Aluminum heads and stock block? I have a 1990 5 liter mustang and I don't want to flycut the pistons.
Please Help

about .500 to maybe .510 lift with a thick head gasket - but duration can come into play, too.

How much duration and can you recommend a nice cam?

Somewhere around a Stage1 Trickflow will work. Be careful on the duration above that...like Boomer said...or there could be shrapnel.

you won't know unless you measure it.

What about the Steeda #18 cam

It's an expensive B303 cam. BUt if your question is...will it work? Yes. But you need to go up a little more on the lift side.

Are you going to stick to stock or aftermarket 1.6 rockers or are you running 1.7's? Auto or 5spd? rear end gear?

Stock block, patriot heads, track-heat intake, 5spd., 355 rearend gear, 1.6 rr and S-trim 15 psi. of boost.

IMHO, the Comp Cams 35-304-8 (270HR) would get close. The combo of boost, pistons, and valve size might make a tough choice there. The problem will be that you are going to have to check the P/V clearance on just about any cam big enough to make use of the boost. But that cam has short enough duration and is under the max lift the stock pistons can accept comfortably.

Just call Anderson Ford and have them make you a custom supercharger cam for you setup.

Also not a bad choice.

Id toss an e-cam in it , I had a 95 gt with the small valve performer heads unported , performer rpm intake , 30 lb injectors , 2 t-rex pumps (no in-tank pump at all) E-cam and an s-trim (stock pulley 8 lbs )the car made 508 rw. The e actually works well with a blower plus the blower made the cam sound bigger. The key to an E cam is it opens the intake valve at 0 deg. That way the valve chases the piston down and there is no chance of piston to valve clearance problems. Most cams start to open the intake valve before the piston reaCHES TOP DEAD CENTER AND THEY TOUCH CAUSING YOU TO BEND A VALVE
oops sorry about the caps
On radials BFG's) the car went 7.20's @ 99 in the 1/8th and 11.20 @ 126 in the 1/4 with 1.9 60 ft. in a pretty heavy car....3.73 gear and a 5 spd. Swapped the inj. out for a set of 42's and it made 545 with no other changes. BTW it was a completely stock bottom end rods , pistons , crank and block. It lasted for about 3 years and was still running when taken out to replace with a sportsman block 331. It had loc-wire head gaskets and it never blew them , not one single problem out of it. Id start with the stock pulley on the blower. You mentioned 15 lbs.Whew.....the same 95 gt after I sold it made over 700rw with the new motor and about 15 lbs of boost. You will break the block pretty quick in my opinion. Stick with 8 - 10 lbs and it will be more than enough. And even that will require a very good fuel system to be right...including a big line to the front etc. Blowers love fuel...large volumn and good pressure

Thanks,
I will take your advice and use the E-Cam. By the way, Do you recommend 1.94 over 2.02 valves and how much hp can be made with the E-Cam?

As far as how much power can be made with an E-cam??????I dont really know. Im sure I was nowhere close to the maximum. It all depends on the rest of the combination

So, do you think if I setup my engine like your old car with drag radials I could run in the 10's
