Took the car out lastnight and it was running like fucking shit! it was 40degrees here and i noticed that the temp guage was running very low not even to the first bar. do you think that this is why it was running like shit?

Yes. It may have not got hot enough to turn on the closed loop.

can i turn the fan switch off to help the temp to get higher?

yes. once it gets up to temp the fast will turn it on automatically. i put the switch in as a manual overide. just keep an eye on the guage.
