You really believe that, overall quality and performance. Nothing against your car as it would be a cool car to drive but you cant really pull up to most jobs in that thing and be taken serious as a professional adult. You can find nice MR2s with some stuff done to them already in the 7k range that handles as well as a $20-30k stock MK4 supra.
Of course engine wise the supra will have a higher tolerance to greater power, but that will make the car even more expensive. So for the money the MR2 will be a better car for less.
If money is not an issue, then the skys the limit for the supra, but even so, its chassis will be hard pressed to match the lighter mid engine Mr2 in handling once they are both maxed out.

next, the supra isnt over rated. you get what you pay for. i dont know but a hand full of cars that can do what a supra can do and still be streetable. the prices reflect that. also the prices the cars get refect how many were made. which wasnt many at all in compairson to vettes, vipers, mustangs, camaros, ect. so in the end you are paying for a car that was over designed from the factory, and the rareity that they are.

ok, lol. im not going to debate what car is better. if you dont know im sorry. if the mr2 was so great and is better then a supra, why cant it compete with every other sports car? answer, because its not a sports car. its a sports comp. ive never seen a mag test comparing mr2's against top sports cars, i think theres a reason for that. not bashing the car, but think about what you are saying. toyota made both cars, there not going to have the mr2 beat there top sports car. that would just be dumb. mr2's are great and i wouldnt mind having one for a dd.

Nice handling car ( MR platform ) but had a few chassis issues.

I knew a guy around here who was putting around 400rwhp on one before he did a 360 on I275 due to his incompetence.

Before the F&F movies, Supras were selling for very good prices and then skyrocketed afterward. Since then, market value has kept them very high ( 30K or more like most of you said ).

NSX's also command a high market value and KBB has had to change their depreciation curves ( or lack thereof ).

The FD RX7's are pure drivers cars. Light. Fast. Unfortunately, unless they've had an LSx swap ( which is controversial, I know ), plan on rebuilding the motor ~ every 60K miles. Darn apex seals.

Great car. Cool motor concept. One real drawback.

Most 17 year old sports cars have been ragged by now. The only chassis issue that the MR2 had was that it wasn't set up to understeer. They lengthened the lower control arms in the back beginning in 93, to reduce dynamic toe-out and help 'correct' incorrect driver inputs.

Mk2 MR2s are just hard cars to drive. They are capable of great handling, but without any of today's electronic nannies, they're twitchier than most people can deal with. This also means they're slower than cars equipped with all of the driver aids.

The Mk1 MR2s are more fun to toss around and are more predictable...mainly because they weigh less than the Mk2. When you're already in trouble, it is harder to correct a heavier car.

About the only thing the MR2 is 'best' at is being an affordable mid-engine car that is a blast to drive on secondary roads. An MR2 will never be the fastest at anything, and shouldn't really be compared to FR GT cars like the Supra and Vette.

well there performance should speak for its self. right now the supra is the fastest irs car in the world. its also the texas mile record holder for a street car.

It's funny you say that though because I think it's relative to the cost margin.

MR2's are relatively easy to get ahold of. There are still very nice 1990 300ZXTT's and early NSX's since they're harder to come by.
