Did anyone see this article in Sundays sports section of the Atlanta urinal and constipation , its a great article about Huston Platt , A local drag racing legend who was involved in a bad crash killing 12 spectators @ Yellow river dragway here in covington. My dad was actually at the dragstrip the day it happened , when Platt pulled the chute a guy standing a foot or two from the track was swept up by the chute causing the car to go out of control and going in to the crowd. Well Platts original Camaro (The Dixie Twister) was located and rebuilt....What a great article!

Yeah man , Ive got some of the original flyers from the track. Plus Richard petty used to race there regularly when he drag raced. Lots of history at Yellow River for sure

i remember hearing the story of the accident from my dad. he was there with my uncle and their racing buddies at the time and they ended up helping people to the hospital in the cars that they were there racing. apparently it was a tragic day

thats awesome!
I still remember driving with Scott down frontage road the first time I saw the now trailer park.
Unfortunately, with todays sprawling suburbs it probably would have been shut down anyways.

Maybe I didnt get to read far enough, since I got booted while on the AJC site, and now it's asking me to register...
but he wrecked in 69...yet the car they found and restored is a split bumper car, which obviously wasn't available in early 69??? Nor was it the car in the pics above.
