Went to Twiggs tonight with 93 in the car and E-85 in a jug on back of the truck. Carried my jets/air bleeds, tools, etc and did some back-to-back testing. First two passes were 93 pump gas--...2 hundredths between the two passes w/ 13.2-13.4 a/f. Then pulled the carb, changed jets from 84's to 98's/99's, changed high speed air bleeds from .039's to blanks on all 4 corners. Car slowed by 7 hundreths w/ 11.6-11.8 a/f. I didn't have any smaller air bleeds than the .028's (which didn't change the a/f much from .039's on the street). I decided to put two of the .028's in and leave blanks in the other two air bleeds. That put me much better. I ran absolutely identical to the average of the first 2 passes...and both passes were nearly identical to each other with a/f at 12.4 (still a touch fat on motor). I didn't want to fool with trying to tune to go any faster with timing, so I went ahead and changed plugs, pulled timing out, and put a bottle in. I went from 32* timing on motor to 24* timing on the spray (that's more than I needed to pull, but I was being extra safe). With a cold bottle ~850 bp, 5 psi fuel pressure 53N, 63F the turd went exactly 3 tenths faster than on motor. That pass had the a/f up in the 12.5 range (with low bottle pressure) so I went to a 63N, 82F w/ 5 psi fp, and warmed the bottle to ~950 psi. Ended up going 4 1/2 tenths faster than on motor w/ 11.0 a/f. I've never sprayed that small of a nitrous jet to that motor, but it ran pretty decent. No hiccups what so ever. I did notice that I have to be a little more careful when staging with the E-85 as the carb is leaner when idling, so when I get up on the 'brake, I have to stall it just a little to make sure it doesn't go lean and stall out. Other than that, it ran smooth and smelled sooooo good:D
I think that I'm going to go back to a 10 jet spread and bump the fuel pressure up to 6psi or so. Once that tune-up is on, I'll be digging for the big pills:D

Anyone have any 120 nitrous pills??? :D:D:D

Oh, and my lights were:

.462, .457 (daylight), .425, .445, .405 (that's right baby:D), .416, .426, .426, .431

Wow....I didn't think E85 was THAT much more dense than Gas. that's a shit load of jetting lol.

your E85 A/F is supposed to be around 9.7

Yeah, I hope that I've got enough fuel pump when I get to the "big" pills. It's good for 230 gph, so hopefully I'm good...

Stoich for E-85 is 9.8, so best power would be about 8.8 on motor, and to be safe on the spray 7.8-8.0. That is on the E-85 scale. I was using the gasoline scale, which both are just a mathmatical manipulation of lambda. If you're using a gas scale for E-85 (or any other fuel), then you pretty much still look for 12.8-13.2 on motor, and 11.6-11.8 on the spray...at least that's where I'm trying get.

10.5 I have some 102 and 110 nos jets if you want to try them on those cast pistons? We are planning on bringing the slow S10 tonite. I've made a couple of changes hoping to get some 6.5's out of the pos. The hood should stay on and not try to fly off.

Sounds pretty good Randy for the first real outing, sorry I missed Friday with ya at Twiggs. Good news is I just made a my first hit in front of the shop out on the street with the new combo and it ran pretty good for a mild combo. First hot rod I have ever had with an air horn on the carb and something with timing on pump gas. I must be getting old.... :steering: Just glad to smell smoke!

Went back to Twiggs tonight for some more testing. I think that I'm ready to start racing with E-85! Went ahead and bumped up the nitrous to a 73N/91F (still with 24* timing...more than I've ever ran on pump gas). Had a good solid run (after it hiccup'd on the starting line...forgot to bring the R's up some when staging). I went in a little deep (staging) on that pass, saw yellow, and still went .394 red. I'll post some vids tomorrow after work. Next, I went ahead and went to some big pills...91N/110F. Two passes back-to-back in two different lanes and only had .006 between the E.T.'s between the two passes. MPH was identical down to the hundredth. STILL had 24* timing. I'm only about .05 off from my best ever with less nitrous. A/F was 11.5 when I looked down at the guage. I still need to bring the meter in and download the files, but I'll get to that tomorrow. All in all, this E-85 shit...IS the SHIT!!!

First vid from last night w/ 73N/91F. As you can see, it didn't get right up on the 2-step at first...just need to remember to bring the R's up everytime w/ the E-85. I may be able to tune it out of the carb though. As you can see, you saw amber flash before I let go of the 'brake, but I still went .394 red...guess I was a little deep:D

Here's a pass with 91N/110F. Notice that the shift light pretty much stays on in this vid versus the last vid:D
