View Full Version : 5 Lug conversion question???
I want to put the '04 anniverary cobra wheels on my '86 GT. I know my '86 fronts are not the same as '87 - '93 but would it work with the same conversion stuff used for the '87 - '93's? You know, the whole SN95 set-up. I saw a set on a red GT at Dallas one night so I know it will work somehow. Maybe that guy is on these forums. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance guys.

You can put the SN-95 stuff right on there. Just make sure you get everything including the brake hoses.

it may work but you won't be able to put the center caps on if you use the 5 lug rotors for the fox body cars (lincoln mk7). You need to swap over to 94-95 sn95 spindles and rotors.
I have bullit wheels on my 87lx and thats what i had to do for the front.

also put the 87-93 V8 struts on for a direct fit with the sn95 spinles.

I know that the struts aren't a must but you will need to use the SN 95 struts or ball joints, or use a spacer below the threads so there are options. I would suggest just using the 95 ball joints since 90% of the ones that we have swapped are wore out anyway.
Also I have 2001 Gt wheels on my SN 95 rear end under a 90 Gt with the quad shocks still on and the center caps fit fine on them and the 03 Cobra wheels on the same car.
Thanks guys. i am just going to do tha axle swap in the rear and leave the drum brakes. Where is the best place to get the front end stuff? MPS?
Hey BUGMAN, this is the wheel I want. shouldnt it be the same as the '03 Cobra wheels you said you have used. BTW that white GT looks sweet.

Yeah they are the same 17x9's. MPS would be the place to go but I found a used SN95 rear end complete for $250 so I couldn't pass it up and it made it really quick and simple.
If you go to MPS tell Greg that Chris/Bugman sent ya to him. I don't get a kick back but he is more likely to make you a better deal. I have been dealing with Greg for many years and he is a great person to deal with.
