I am about to buy a shell and a rolling chassis, it is an older car(67 so plenty of room under the hood), and I would like to take a 5.3L since they aren't that rare and quite powerful and reliable, and mate it to a manual transmission.

I haven't had much experience so this is my beginner project, and i don't know how possible that would be, i would prefer some type of japanese transmission and clutch since it would be a car transmission.

So my question is, is it at all possible to mate these two parts and i was thinking about the trans out of a 240sx or some other rear wheel drive japanese car?

I also would like to know what kind of rear end i would need i can do metal and frame work. Also the question of a flywheel, would i need to buy one that fits to the trans and take it to a machine shop to modify it to fit to the 5.3L?

Use a t56 transmission from a 98up Camaro or trans am. Bolts righ onto the 5.3l.
