I need to build my 9" and put in a call to Southern Gear. They said $950 for rebuild with an Auburn Traction Lok and 3.50 ring and pinion.
Does this sound correct and do they do good work?

They do great work.....Shankin gets parts from them alot for transmissions.....I never had any problems with then or National drivetrain ether......if that includes parts like the carrier, gear, and bearings sounds fair to me....shit is just expensive.....

i've purchased 5 ring and pinion sets and a bunch of bearing sets they've always been great. even with warranty that wasnt' theirs (busted 2 auburn pro diffs -GM 7.625" 10 bolt- and they warrantied em out for me through auburn)

I heard they did good work, I just wanted to ask people who used them for something more than "stock" applications.
My car will be used on the street only, it has a 393 and will have a tremec. I am assuming that a traction lock is the way to go.

Southern Gear is really good from what I've seen, we are messin' with a new rear end from there's right now in class and they seem to be great. Never heard anything bad about em.
