I know a few of you guy's have v-8 s-10's. I was wondering what all you guy's have done to the rear suspension. I finally got off my ass and bought one. Just looking for some input of what works good!!

I never did anything to the rear of the one I built. Probably why it would spin 1 wheel all the way through 3rd :wall:. I think I still have a set of v8 motor mounts for the swap if your looking for some.

It's a 82 , yes like the one i had in high school, and yes it will have flames. I have had mounts and headers for a few years to build one, i guess i'm just tired of everyone asking me " when are you going to put something together"! I believe the stock diff on that year is a 7 1/2. I was told some were 7 5/8 what did yours end up being zach??

i never new there was a diffeence between a 7.5 and a 7-5/8 rear. i always understood it to be the same. some people just worded it diferently. i have been saving a carrier for my camaro for years that is in good condition. come get it. it would be right up your alley til you get that thing to hook real good. then you'll be after something stronger.

I wont to retain the stock rearend for now, i was looking at these bolt in traction bars from competition engineering there called slide-a-link. they appear to take the place of the leaf springs ans bolt into there old location. if anyone has used these i would like some feed back on how they work!

I put an Auburn POSI unit and 3.73 gears in mine. The only suspension thing I did was was 2 inch blocks to lower the rear to match the front. I left the V6 springs in front to help it launch and because I'm CHEAP. It didn't haelp much if any. I was going to clamp a length of flat bar in the springs from the axle to the front spring eye, this helps to keep the spring from wrapping, but I sold it before I had a chance to get too involved in it. The other thing I usually do to leaf spring cars is to remove any clamps from the axle back. And then use angled shims to set the pinion angle and play with it until you get the best results.

Put a 9in. under it w/ good axles a good locker !!

I'm cheap myself, engines building i have never had a problem grasping, transmission's i under stand, but still can't build and suspension i have a good grasp on, i was just seeing what ya'll thought. i'm probably going with a locker 4.10's and those slide a link traction bar's i refered to up above. i have access to a couple of 9 inch's i just aint ready for that yet. maybe after the engine i already have built puke's, then i'm building my 400!!

Do these mount plates for an s-10 have to go in a v6 truck, or will a 4 cylinder work??
mrmeanbean74

the yellow truck is ladderbar set up and the grey ranger has a 9inch with stock springs and some old cheap bolt on bars if that truck has a 7.5 in it it's not going to hold up with slicks on it

So i should go ahead on do the 9 inch? What about the mounts, i have read that if it was a 4 cylinder you have to by 2.8 mounts for the v8 plates to bolt to, is this true?
