i found it surprising that thacker's motor didn't hold up very long. i've always thought that a n/a ls1 would hold up to a lot of abuse.
they probably will. maybe thacker's was just a monday motor. it did run good while it lasted though. the ls1 motor is very similar to a modular ford motor and they don't hold up near as well as an ls1.

Sorry i have to disagree, they are nothing like a 5.0 and they damn sure hold up better! I have a 5.3 ( same platform) behind me right now that has been run (in freeze frame data) to 267 degrees, put in a thermostat, and that bitch is fine! Oh, and the best part, it has 181,910 miles on it!

my grand pa's c10 chevy truck has like 610,000 miles on it! original motor and everything...never really had any major work done to it from what i know...i will take some pics of it and post them for ya
