Just curious if there is anyone on here that either has a pilots license or getting one or even interested in flying?
I fly anything from a Cherokee Six to a Cesna 4 pass. I have flown a Bonanza and a few smaller Cesna's. I am basic instruments (six pack) but planning on starting back and proceeding to twin engines, helicopter, etc.

No, but I might have a little knowledge about working on them. I also might have a little license to work on them.

Unfortunately, no. Noone has worked with me in the past. I was lucky enough to register for A&P school a few days before 9/11. Afterwards I thought "surely the airline industry will rebound", so I went the 2 years and finished. I would easily get more use out of my license if I decided to wipe my ass with it, and I might if the damn thing weren't so hard. I've pretty much given up on it at this point.

Eastern, and PanAm went out right after I got mine, and nobody would pay shit. 13,000 mechanic without a job inh your field is a hell of a place to be. It aint any better now. You were smart to leave it behind.

You know, when business is good, it's GOOD, but when business is bad, it's...so damn bad you cry yourself to sleep on your huge down pillow and wonder what that mildew smell is for the next month and a half. Sorry. Too much info.

I have checked out a few price here and there for the single engine license. I need to get my transprotation on the ground running good before I fly..

I am no where near there yet but I am sure having fun working my way up.
I have flown/assisted in a King Air a few times out of Ben Epps in Athens but I was never in full control of the plane. Those things are sweet. I never knew that you had to have 2 people to fly some of the smaller planes like the King Air, etc. I thought that only the big Boeings required 2 people.

After you told me the story of your engine/electrical mishap I thought you weren't too keen on going back up? Anyways, I'm still interested in getting my liscense...anyone know about what it costs these days?

The king air is a great airplane I got to fly one for over a year out of Hilton Head SC for a guy. You would be suprised at the number of airplanes that require 2 pilots. And GTGIRL I will post more when my car is a little faster. For price on a pilot lic if you just want to fly for fun you can get a sport pilot lic. It limits you some but still a lot cheaper way to start flying.

Yeah, for now it'll just be fore fun, basic VFR stuff...one day I hope to be successful enough to get at least part ownership on a plane. My grandfather was gonna teach me as soon as I was old enough but he was taken from us before we had a chance. When I was 9 or 10 years old he had me VOR/DME navigating on MS Flight Simulator on the comp. Flying is something I really want to do.

yeah, yeah, yeah! Next you'll be telling me that when Ut gets a good football team you'll post up. I'll believe both when I see it! :D
Bring it on! BTW- Did Cathy tell you what happened in Bristol last weekend??? LOL! We need to get together for a cookout or something, kick off is in 3 weeks! it's going to be on!
Hey what's your email? I've got a good spreadsheet to send you on the SEC season. It's actually really good.

If you go to Ben Epps Airport or the Winder Airport it is less than $100 an hour for the training and you can go once a week or once a month. It is really fun and simple but be ready because your first day in training "you" will be flying and learning your checklist.
There is a kid (21) up there that has been going 1-2X a month sometimes more but and has been there a year and is finally going solo. You have to have so many hours before you can fly solo and since he didn't have a ton of cash it took him this long just to go solo (fly by himself).
Anyone can get their pilots license and I would highly suggest that you at least try it if your at all interested. I am terrified of heights is the only reason I ever went up in a small plane but once I did I was hooked. ;)

It is a a lot of fun and the good thing is you can buy anice 4 seat airplane for what a nice new truck would cost.

I've got about 750 hours. Just sold my Mooney 201 and got a Mooney Bravo/TLS, it's turbocharged and can maintain full cruise power to 25,000 feet.
p.s. 23LX was soooooo skeered I thought he was going to cry  :D ;)

cool, i knew you were trying to sell the other one and were talking about the turbocharged one, but i didn't know you had already done it.
p.s. i think you're definitely confusing me with joseph. :D i thought it was fun as shit, but it is easy to get mentally fatigued...

Actually our flight made my mind up. That climb to 10,000 feet normally asperated and loaded up took way to long. More horsepower and boost is always good :D
