You better have VP follow you around...And some big pockets for your fuel.

I drive it several days a week (only because the top doesn't go down like my other one and you can't fit 4 wheels and tires in a coupe like you can my lightning). In two weeks, this will be my only transporatation and will still have A/C and power steering.
Not that it matters though.....Shawns vette or the guy with the black 03 cobra that went 7.01 at 101 last friday are a couple of the fastest daily driven cars I know of.
Oh, and 2000 Saleen. Shut up until you have a car that even runs. Doubt that you are any competition anyway since you don't even know what VP is. By the way it's a manufacturer of gasoline, namely race fuel which is what you're going to need in order to run any decent boost on you Sloleen. Plus there's always the great equalizer.......driving skill. Even if you have the cash to pay someone to build you a car, you still have to be able to drive it.

Did either of these cars have street tires and run on pump gas? I mean real street tires (not et streets, drag radials)?

The coupe of which I speak is an 89. The "POS 88lx" is having a motor built right now so I haven't talked about it. But since you like talking about shit that doesn't run so much......the POS 88lx will bust your ass too. If your Sloleen doesn't make 1,000+ then you better just stick to the 89. If your POS ever runs, I'll run you anytime. Remember rice boy...stage with the front tires not the rear. We've all seen your "wanna-be" kind before.

My ole daily driven Fairlane went 7.90 on street tires, pump gas, and motor. I was going to try a Nitrous pass but it wasnt working right, so it slowed down to 8.30 on the hose popping and cracking. But I did trailer it to the track, cause it was the first time Ive ever really ran it hard, but itll be deiven there next time. I drive it to work at least 4 days a week, and a lot on the weekend nights.

I just wanted to say hi to everyone descussing this topic. I drive my car every day, rain or shine. (sorry can't give any times)
DRAG RADIALS ARE STREET TIRES. I drive on mine every day, 17" wheels.
PS. I think the dakota takes the title of FDDTV, 1/8 and 1/4.;)
Mr. Torque
06-27-2003, 02:30 PM
What does everyone think a street tire should be? Im asking this question because im trying to get my Fairlane to 6.99 on street tires and pump gas. I can get it there on Drag Radials without a problem, I just dont want to hear that I didnt do it on street tires after I spend $350 on a set.

06-27-2003, 02:36 PM
i think it would be impressive no matter what kind of street tires you had on it. 6.99 on some radials is hauling ass i think.

I think a Drag radial is 100% a street tire ( normal size..245, 275,315 40's) ...;) Fuck everyone who thinks they are not...:D

I agree. A Drag radial is definitely a street radial. When they first came out with the 555R, I got a set of 275-40-17s. For those who might say that a drag radial is not a street tire because they are not good in the rain, I say Bull. That was the best rain tire I ever had, drag radial or not. 6s on a drag radial street car is hauling butt and very impressive. One of our buddies went 6.7 on 17s and to this day, that is one of the most impressive daily driven cars I have seen.

If you were wondering a ET Street is considered, and legally, is a street tire, but it is still a slick.

I went 1.65 60'ft on 275/40/17 BFG Drag radials 7.49 1/8 and 11.89 @ 114mph in Atl. FunFord Weekend. NO I do not drive the car daily because I don't have too, but it still has A/C, pwr everything, plus an AOD with 3.55 gears. I am only making 5lbs of boost from an A-trim Vortech, thinking about upping the boost to 8lbs. it has a stock bottom end (crank, rods, and pistons) Shane can vouch for my car it could be driven daily if wanted be. I know it's not the fastest but it's what I enjoy and am proud of..........LOL.....Just thought I would share info. about my car with everybody! Also Shane when you decide to run down to Dallas let me know I will take mine down also, I have never ran there before but would like to give it a try. Later, Jeffrey
Mine's not the fastest, but it is 100% daily driven from work, to school, and to the track. Last weekend I went 8.0@96mph on street tires. 2.0-2.2 60's.

about 4 years ago my daily driver would go 70hs at 101 on honset to god radials not drag radials. But who the hell cares about 4 years ago. Ive come to my senses now and only run et streets or drags until my other car is finished.

My car did go 12.8's at 123 on true 17" Falken tires before I took the charger off. I drove it daily then with a/c and power steering. When I bought my truck, the car came down to "occasional" street car.
Right now, it is "no" street car as I haven't put it back on insurance since buying my wife's Expedition.

lol, sounds like my car, i made a 12.8x pass followed by a 12.7x pass w/ a few more mph than that though and then randomly did a 12.3x pass next (still slow though).
we probably have similar tires, i use 255/40/17 falken street tires on my lx.

Yep... Same tires. At the time, the car made 520 rwhp. It doesn't make near that now on the bottle. I ended up selling my charger and doing some suspension work among a few other things.
The motor that I am working on- lord, I'll be glad when its done, should make that on motor. It should be a lot of fun then.
