i talked to the guys from sweetwater that i know and they said it would be cool for the fastest cars to put some money in a pot and the fastest car for the night takes home the money. just an idea. i hope it goes well. they may bring up the white mustang, and also papageorge may come also. if we get the word out it should be interesting.

Looking forward to getting back to I 40 next weekend. Afraid I don't have much to offer those bad ass cars with Nitrous, turbo's, and superchargers, but look forward to getting my turd brown Caddy powered Buick Regal back to the track. I just hope there are some slower cars there that I might get to run with. I think it might be fun to get to run the T-Bird with the BBF swap if he comes up. We might be a close match. My motor is pretty much a stock Cadillac 500 in a G body Buick. Best time this year was an 8.7xx @ 83mph. I'll have to trailer it up there from Harriman since I put a 4:10 in the factory 7.5 10 bolt. I hope I 40 will stay open a bit longer this year and now the air is much cooler.

Jim, you might remember me. I used to drive the rag top Cadillac with the Northstar a year or so ago. Look forward to comming back over the big hill.

Hey buick c type, A few years ago I put a 472 in a 83 monte carlo and ran 9.26 on street tires. Right now I'm putting a 7.0 litre in a 84 SS monte with maybe a little shot of spray.

sprchrgd,

I may have talked with you a couple of years ago at crossville. I think I may have even run you in the Monte with my Cadillac Allante. I will try to attach a picture of the Allante at Crossville. If your building a 425, you might want to PM me for some Caddy tips and an awesome builder in Soddy.

Jim, A Northstar swap into the Regal might be more of a bitch than the 500 swap was. I am also doing a 500 swap into a 1976 El Camino. This winter I hope to build a 500 that might get into the low 7's. Forged rods & pistons, bulldog intake, ported & polished iron heads that will flow like aluminum heads, and a few other littler tricks.

Look forward to seeing y'all at the track friday.

Yeah, the Dodge waxed my ass pretty good as do most cars I lined up against at the track. Did surprise lots of folks with the Caddy though. Best run ever with it was a 9.2xx @ 78 mph. Beat several older 5.0 mustangs and some older Z28's. Lots of ricers hated getting beat by Gramps Caddy.

Just to give you guys the scoop on how Real Street Drags are run in Wisconsin. The owner of the track is still able to distribute time slips, they rip them in half, so only YOU get to know what time you run, the win light still works, but your ET is not shown on the time board.

So when you make time runs, you still get to see how your car is running.

After a certain time usually 2-3 hours before close, there are no more time slips and the money racing begins. Win light still shows who won the race.

If you want to race off a flag or a flash light, both cars still set the beams, the tree goes off, but the race is started on a flag or light. This way the win lights still show who won the race, no discrepancies about who crossed the finish line first. Just thought you might need the info.

FYI, the last Real Street drag at Union Grove pulled in 550 cars!

And I would prefer this to just shutting off the tree. This way, you still get to see what kind of pass that you make, and MORE IMPORTANTLY, you KNOW who wins. Even if you set someone out a few car-lengths, someone can stage the "other" lane with their feet to activate that lane and give a win light IF he indeed wins.

Something to think about!!!!

IF it's done this way, the person handing out the time-slips needs to cut off the other person's run, AND the margin of victory (so that one person can't "figure out" what the other person ran).
