Do yall have alot of drag strips up there or is it just road race tracks and such? :why: And how many months a year can you actually drive your cars on the street due to all the snow?

Hey Rice Killer, Apologys man, Things get out of hand when there flamming and bashing going around. So why don't we put that in the past, and keep on talking about cars.

I would first like to say that many people in Canada are diverse people. They live different aspects to do with Cars. Either Performance, or things that you call Rice. I myself don't appreciate people flamming me about my Ricey car stuff, but this is a Car Club, and theres nothing that says that if you like Ricey stuff that you are not allowed in the club.

Lets start over shall we?

Also to your question RiceKiller, actually i'm not sure if theres race tracks, however i hear that Toronto is starting this thing where you pay a certain amount of money and you can drag race and whatever with the police conscent. So its pretty cool up there. We are trying to get it down here but the thing is that if you crash, then whos liable right?

Well that's the point. You will always be liable if you race whether street or strip.

At least at the track you will be racing in a controlled environment over maintained strips and not leaving many things up to chance. (ie - Grandpa pulling his big ol' Lincoln out in front of you). Would you rather run into a guardrail/reinforced wall? Or would you rather run off the road and into oncoming traffic or be wrapped around a telephone pole?

In every activity you take risks. But a majority of the people here that race (probably 99.9%) acknowledge these risks.

food for thought.

I live not that far north-east of Toronto, close to my house is Mosport, which is a world class race facility, but no dedicated drag track. Shannonville is 180km east of Toronto and it also has a variety of road courses, including a 1/4 mile track. Toronto Motorsports Park is in Cayuga, just off the southwestern shore of Lake Ontario. It's has road course and 1/4 mile and there's also St Thomas, nearer to London, Ontario, it has a 1/4 mile track only. Those are just the ones within a reasonable distance from me. Of course there are small oval tracks everywhere for the left turn only crowd. And rallying is quite alive in Canada, the Rally of the Tall Pines in Bancroft, Ontario being the one I attend every year. As far as weather goes, most tracks shut down about the end of October and start up again in April.

So are you going to dedicate your car to rally then? Are you an auto-x man? Or are you just gonna do drag strip racing?

That's a question I struggle with everyday! But here's my thoughts on the matter, Rally racing is my favourite motorsport, but I only attend rally races as a spectator, I need to commute to work on Monday morning, which would be hard if my car had a high speed encounter with a tree on the weekend! I've been drag racing once, soon to be twice, but I've not yet been autoXing. I'd like to be able to run some respectable 1/4 mile times, but cornering is where I find my thrills. So... the short answer is I'd like to have a well-balanced street car that is competent in all arenas, but with emphasis on handling and braking performance.

from what i understand, there are all sorts of tracks in Canada.

bear tracks, moose tracks, and train tracks not being the least of them.
