A bunch of us were at Coupe's Friday night, and as happens, we ended up at Frix's to eat. While we were eating our appetizers, the waitress decided to tell a back slapper of a joke to our table. Unfortunately, Tireman, who just had 4 1/2 hours of surgery on his left shoulder was sitting on the end. Apparantley, the waitress really took a cotton to Paul, because as she finished her joke, she hauled off and slapped him on the shoulder. Now, those of us who know Paul, know that he can take a punch, under normal circumstances. However, there is no way to describe the look on his face when this happened. I am amazed, as we all were, that he didn't scream. There was some serious pain there some major teeth gritting, and some major self control. Now she immediately felt bad, very bad, and without telling anyone, she paid for Paul's dinner. Unfortunately, after the initial shock, the rest of us burst out laughing. It is a credit to Paul's understanding that some things are funny even though they weren't meant to be, otherwise it might have been a pile on. I haven't heard form him since I dropped him off, so I suspect that is recuperating from the big night out.

That happened to a friend of ours at the track one night. He'd just had shoulder surgery as well and some dude was talking to him and went to give him the ol buddy slap on the shoulder and Rick had to lean on the car to keep from passing out.
That's cool she bought his dinner though. :)

Everynow and then we show up at Coupe's and take over his living room. We usually talk about it on here-who's going, when, etc.-you should come on down, the more the merrier.

The waitresses name is Karin. She told me about this incident Saturday while we were eating there. She's cool, I always get hooked up with a free piece of that peanut butter pie.

How the hell do you get free pie? Even Coupe pays for the pie, unless he hasn't been telling us. And why aren't you joining us when we are there?

I was flying back from Madison WI (on business) Friday night, I would've missed out anyway Scott "forgot" to call. :) Oh, take this, normally she doses out a piece and a half to boot!
Maybe I'll catch ya next time, I'm just down the street from Coupe.

It was a shocker to say the least...I believe that her embarassment was quite on par with my pain level...I felt bad for her when it was all said and done...
I haven't heard form him since I dropped him off, so I suspect that is recuperating from the big night out.
I responded to your calling me a "woose"... and V95GT and I had a big laugh about it...(my response)...
Yes. I would say that she was VERY lucky he didnt!!
Teetering on the verge of a " more reptillian" response I believe some small part of the Cortex was still functioning enough to recognize the fact that a woman hit me:D My momma would have felt a "tremor in the Force" and then you would have really seen a beat down...Mom is 5'0 and wields a wiffle ball bat like she knows the Bushido inside out and backwards and that ...my friends...is a sight to behold indeed:DA little slang for ya! Now if everyone knew what that pertained to, they would probably roll over and die laughing. ;)
Sorry to hear about your painful incident but was it worth the free meal?
Austin has volunteered to install your tranny when your ready so you won't have to do any of the lifting.
