I buying a 450er this weekend. I haven`t been on one yet
but they say they are awesome. Let me know where some
places are to ride. I live in Acworth, Georgia. I hear that place
in Union Point is cool. I think it`s called Durhamtown Plantation.
Nice collection in the garage!!

One question: I will be trail riding most of the time unless I
go where I can hit a track or just do some jumping whenever.
Someone told me that I should just buy a 400ex instead. But
I figured get the best you can incase you need it. What do you
think?

Thanks for the compliments!
As far as which one to buy......Youll have to make that decision, all I can do is give you my experiences with both and the charactaristics of both.
I started with my 400EX. It was a great quad....I would even go as far as saying "bulletproof" when maintenenced properly. I thought it was the fastest thing untill I bought the 450R. I was primarily trail riding but then got into motocross and thats when the 450 was bought. The 450 is superior to the 400 on the track.
The pros of the 400EX is....Reverse, bulletproof, easy to ride, cheaply modified, enough power for the track but simply awesome power for the trails.
The cons of the 400EX is, youll get your ass smoked by a 450, and the suspension on the 400 is not as good as the 450.
The pros of the 450.....More power than you can use, great suspension, wont be outpowered for another 3-4 years.
Cons of the 450.....The 06 has electric start and a battery, I dont like batteries and electric start, especially when the 05 was extrememly easy to kick start. The 06 has a "race" engine. The piston is expected to be replaced every 40-50 hours as in any race engine.
My suggestion to you would be if you are gonna primarily trail ride, get the 400. If you just have to have the power, seek a new 05 450R then install a $120 camshaft, $30 airfilter, $200 silencer and a $14 13 tooth front sprocket and roll hard. ;)

BTW, go to www.georgiaoffroad.com there you wil find all GA ORV trails and motocross tracks listed along with some pics and directions. there are several good places within 1---1 1/2 hours from you.;)

I hope that`s not right because I`m buying one this weekend.
I am not changing the piston every 40-50 hours. Someone
tell me different or I`m buying something else.
Mr. Torque, thanks for ALL the information.

Its all in how you ride it as well. You may squeeze 70-90 hours out of it if ridden fairly easily.
As far as buying something else......The salesman or techs anywhere wont admit it to you because either they dont know or want you to buy it anyways.
READ THIS: ALL MANUFACTURERS OF 450 RACE QUADS HAVE THE SAME RECOMENDATION OF HOURS ON PISTON REPLACEMENT. THE LTR450 FROM SUZUKI, THE YFZ450 FROM YAMAHA AND THE 450R FROM HONDA HAVE THE SAME PISTON INTERVALS.
Thats why I suggested that you get the idea right of where you wanna ride and how you wanna ride. These are just recommended piston replacement intervals, nothing more. They are made for folks who wanna do a $250 (thats counting labor) piston job than to replace the cylinder as well costing more.
