don't worry about the power to the wheels, worry about how it e/t's with that power and how efficiently you use it. as for racing dyno numbers around here, no that's not very good but there are some very fast cars around here with a lot less power than you'd think.
Depending on your combination an weight 400 rwhp should get a3100 lb. car into the 7.20s in the 1/8.So if your goal is to go fast and 7.20s is fast for a street car than that should be your goal.If you need more information about rwhp talk to jeff aka shankin at team ford. Dan CPC

not being a smartass but- hp is like money, you can never have too much...too much is more than you will always have.if you have 300 you want 400,if you have a 1000 you want 1200.
312 is more than most cars you will pull beside on a everyday basis but i bet you want more:burnout:

Everyone i know has a different definition of fast. The hp your car makes with the proper sus will run 7.50s to 7.70s in the 1/8th.My beater makes 290 to the tires and has run the best of 7.68 at 91mph.On the gas it picks up about .75 under that on 150.This also depends on drivers skill.Your car would be right in the middle of all the rest of us non race cars with a small shot on it. So get those parts and lets put the tune on it.

lol, that is probably THE most important part of it. folks don't know what that means until they've heard you or 5.0joe or someone go down the track with a stick one time...gives a new meaning to drive it like you stole it. if you really want the e/t to match the power, you've got to drive it that way without worrying about breaking parts. i'd be interested to see what the average john doe would run in say your silver car for example.

I have a question regarding times. I am in a 2700 lbs falcon building a 400-420 hp 306. What 1/8 can I be looking at?
engine: '70 351 heads ported and exhaust polished/bowl work/1.94int,1.6exh, 1.6 roller rockers, RPM airgap manifold, 670 street avenger, little over 10 cr, B303 cam, hedmans/prochamber/2 chamber flows. 3.23 9-inch with nitto drag radials, C-4 rebuilt.

Say you make 330 to the tires with the proper converter you should be able to run 7.70s to 7.90s.Change that gear & get some slicks.

This is about where I thought the combo would be at. Obviously this has alot to do with driver skill like Shankin said but if you can keep it staight and hit the right shift points it is definitely possible. Of course all of this is dependent on the number of hours that you r engine builder is being worked at his primary job. Still gotta make that trip to starbucks:ricer: :ricer:

At Dallas, you really need to work on hooking the car. When I finally get some better tires I'll be in much better shape.

just letting you guys know (shankin, mostly) the falcon is a daily driver and sits outside and is my only means of transportation for a college freshman and add to the fact I don't have a job. Not to rant but that is the reason for the low gear and lack of slics.
By the way Tireman, imports piss me off
fart can man revved at me tonight cut in front of me then slowed down, One more month? he lives at university place . . . revenge will be sweet.

520 hp to the tires and my car will go 6.20s in the 1/8th and 9.88s in the 1/4. Its all in the manner of putting the horsepower to the track!!!
