i like to play with SD 5.0s. They are faster then mass air cars stock for stock. For you i would suggest getting some long tube headers, offroad H,good catback,3.73s,advance the timing to around 16 degrees and have some fun.

Thats a good start.Do a 65 mm t body ,adjustable fuel press regulator,a good tune and a cobra intake or equal.

I put a cobra intake,65mm tb,afpr, and was even talked into sliding in a B303 cam and it ran like a bandit

the b-cam is one of the oldest motorsport alphabet cams out there and was actually designed with the speed density setup in mind (b/c mass air cars hadn't even saturated the market yet). as it was mentioned before (in a different thread), just drill a small hole in the throttle body blade and it should run/idle fine. although, most aftermarket throttle bodies come with that hole already there so if you don't have a stock one, it's one less thing to bother with. if you keep a stock tb, just keep that in mind...

mine had a small stumble in the idle but it never affected the driveability of the car.

i've already got an f-cam on me....no good? should i drop it and go for a B? what would be a good cam for S/D other than B303?
also the engine is at 180k, so's the transmission, is this a problem right now, or can i worry about it later? i'm not doing anything major until i can rebuild the engine, or get a 306 (it's up in the air right now), just gears, shifter, exhaust...basic bolt ons, and i've already got the cobra intake (not on, just sitting on the shelf). thanx for the help guys, i'm glad ya'll know your shit!

put that shit on and bring it to the track and yes lose the f cam unless you want to go to mass air then keep it and by the conversion parts

i'd say with the sd . i'd lose the b-303 cam too ... i'd go with something like a e -303 . or something in that area ...

this is just from what i know .

I would sell everything, buy a turbo and a fast system-ditch the tranny and put a lenco in it-add a 25.1 chassis and run outlaw!!

I like the way you think.

ha ha , that cobra intake is on my shelf..

he is wanting to make fun driving street car so I told him not to convert to the MAF yet, he could get what he wanted out of that SD.

Thanks for all the opinions.. Now maybe he will let me get started on that thing. I have been waiting for 4 months..lol
