Dad and them are headed down to Valdosta this weekend for the MoPar race and being we've never been down there before, I was just wondering if anyone on here had been and wanted to share your experience.
From what I understand the whole pit area is asphalt? Is there a large concession area that might be enclosed with A/C? They wanna take the baby and I wanted an idea of if there are places to get inside and cool off.
Thanks.

Hey Mel, are they taking the Duster? Just wondering if he got it fixed yet or if he found out what the problem was.

I have been and I think Its the best track in Georgia. I got down there early one time and walked the starting line and it looked bald. (as bad a commerce maybe worse) so I never put my wheelie bars on....I should have because all I saw was the night sky. This is the only time my white car ever got to the rear bumper and drug it about 30 feet. The crowd liked it from what I saw and heard on the video but I put the bars on for the next pass. Its bar none the best hooking track I have ever been on in Georgia. This was on a friday TNT night to so if its an event I'm sure it will be better. Shad the guy who runs it is a super cool guy. I called him all day long the day I went down to check the weather because it was raining up here but there 4 hrs away. He said weathers great come on down and other than the drive taking 4 1/2 hrs due to the rain and traffic It was definitely worth it.

Yeah, they're taking it. I don't know what the problem was, I didn't ask. I've been busy with my own truck and the truck show, so I haven't had much interest in the Duster.
I'm not even going this weekend. I just have no desire to ride 5 hours, and then bake in that south GA heat in an all asphalt pit area. Besides that, the guy I help do the horse and carriage work with, he broke his knee and isn't getting around too good and he could really use my help, so I'm staying home to help him.

It's a REALLY nice facility. The only downside I have seen is they are painfully slow to run the cars. It seems like there is 5 minutes between every two cars that pull up to race. They kind of just stand there and hang out before they let another pair run. But everything is paved, big wide concrete bleachers, bathrooms and food on both sides of the track, seems to hook really well and I think the whole track is concrete, not just the first 1/8.

Mel.....tell them that the main concession stand is fairly large and air conditioned, so if they need to retreat to a cooler place, it's there.
As for the track itself, it's a bad ass place. I've heard that the NHRA teams were impressed with the facility when they were down for the Spring Test Nationals prior to the Gator Nats. If they liked it, can't be too bad of a place. The real plus is I'm only about an hour and half away...:D
Yep.....one of only two all concrete 1/4 facilites in the U.S. It started out as 680 ft of concrete, then 2 years ago it was redone to all concrete.

Excellent, thank you. That's what I was wanting to know. Mom isn't looking forward to the heat for herself, not to mention the baby. And yes, they've got ear covers for the his little ears.
Sounds like it's a nice place. I'd really like to check it out, I just don't wanna ride down there. I'm kinda burnt out on the whole racing thing. [Not the racing itself, just the way it's been for us lately, dad's taken the fun out of it being all serious and hard core.]

I have been told many times that it is one of the nicest tracks in the Southeast. Of course, they spent over $15 MILLION on the entire complex already, with over $8 Million on the drag strip alone.
