I think it is a good idea.

I would not make this a main focus for your shop but as a extra service for the customers that can afford it. You never know untill you try it out it may take off. I dont know what yall have in your area so it might be worth the investment.

I havent been to your shop so if your like most you are already strapped for space a power coating operation takes up space and money.
for the Equipment, Ovens, Cleaning, Sandblasting, Washing, and Finishing. Powdercoaters are far and few between as far as in the automotive so this could be right for your location.

I'd also have to say that most people like the idea of having their parts powder coated but more often then not they don't spend their money on powder coating. Hate to see you invest funds in something like that only to lose it. If I were you I'd just find someone to sublet the powder coating out to.
Just my opinion though.

We are thinking small parts for now nothing bigger than a wheel or so. I have a connection that I can get started fairly cheep but still don't want to throw money out the door. I no that I will be able to be very inexpensive compared to what I have see out there for what I will be doing. I already have a blasting cabinet and misc other stuff as I used to do body work. I am thinking of getting back into that to but not sure yet.
