This probably a stupid place to ask a engine related question, but does anyone know where I can order motor/trans mounts for swapping either a 302 or a 350 into my 87 B2000? I know they are both available, but I'm having trouble finding some. Everyone I ask just says, "google it" . Well, google is starting to get pissed at me, and after 3 hours I have found jack shit , no links ever pan out. I have a 302 setting here waiting for a host, and a 350 4 Bolt in pieces . I need to get the logistics worked out so i can decide which to use. truck still runs but I've had to put new a new head gasket on it atleast once every year for 3years running. I'm sick of it, but I love the way the truck looks, so i want to do something fun with it. Does anyone have any experience with a similar swap in this truck , or any helpful links.

hmm, i looked at that forum for a few minutes earlier. I could'nt find any info on commercially available stuff, only people saying "yeah i swapped in a 302" but no helpful details. i'll do more searching there and see what happens. I have found more info on swapping rotary engines in than V8's. I guess that is pretty understandable though.

Might be worth the trouble searching the crap on http://www.cardomain.com I found alot with 302 and 350 swaps but no info on the swap.

Looks like a few people have used the universal motor mount from summit racing Part # TRD-4819 . Just cut to length and weld in place. There is apparently a site which used to offer a kit but is currently down (www.ultimatecustoms.ca). The only info I could find said they were undergoing restructuring and would be down for a few months

The TRD crossmember works well, and can be mocked up and welded in in less than an hour. The advantage is that you can move the motor back for better distribution and/or header clearance by welding the crossmember wherever you want. If you don't want to go that route, Advance adapters offers a motor-mount kit for ranger/b2000, but you are fixed on the location of the motor. I would definitely use the Ford motor as it is both shorter and narrower than the chevy, and has just as much power potential. The ford transmission options also have smaller bellhousings and transmissions overall, which means less trans-tunnel interference, and more room to move the motor back. Shorty mustang headers work well (with a little modification) and are avilable for cheap, whereas the cheap "block hugger" chevy headers dump right into the motor mount, meaning more expensive headers need to be used on the chevy. In case you are wondering, yes, I have done this swap a couple of times.

i would think you would have better luck looking for ranger motor mounts, i imagine that would be more common and i assume theyre the same thing

I have a friend that put a 350 in a mazda pick up truck back when we were in high school. I think they put solid motor mounts in it though. If you are familiar with the Pro Speed shop, he is right across the street at American Corvette. Brandon Bressner. He should be able to give you some pointers. If I remember correctly he had a tough time keeping it cool because there wasnt enough room for a stock fan and the electrics wouldnt keep it cool sitting in traffic.
