bbk long tubes and flowmaster trans type...compression...octane...primary use...rear gearing...weight of the vehicle all play into a well thought out cam...some carbs are very duration sensitive...There are many factors involved... this is a very ,very simple version of a cam sheet just to give you an ideahttp://www.compcams.com/information/CamSelection/default.asp This should be the minimum of qestions that you need to ask yourself...

f-cam! :D

The stage 1 will have faster ramp rates, check the adv. vs .050" numbers . . .

But I think the type of heads will have more to do with power than anything else. If you have a stock head, f-cam; ported stock E7 or GT40, probably f-cam again; aftermarket aluminum, stage 1. But remember, there are better cams out there.

EDIT: I saw all of your posts asking about cam clearance with a stock motor. The cam is the last thing you want to change on a bone stock motor.

What he said....I had a 88.87 mph 1/8th mile pass oin a full weight GT with the stock cam... I know people who have run 7.0's with the stock cam and a shot.......Side note...I kn:nod: ew Fairlane couldn't resisit a Cam Thread

I've got one for you guys. Pick out a cam and injectors for this. 302 stock bore, mass air, 70mm TB, spacer plate, GT-40 uper & lower(ported), GT-40 alum heads(ported), 1.7 rockers, 225 in tank fuel pump, underdrive pullys, elec fan, shortys thru magnaflow dumps, AOD-low gear set-manual valve body, 355 gears, and maybe a little 100 shot of gas.

I think the xtreme energy series by comp are some of the best OTS cams out there for a mass air setup.

You already know what I think! stock cam fo' sure! :D

But if you did spring for something, nothing too radical with the 3.55s. I guess pick up something generic used like a b-cam which you can pick up for $80 all day. You probably would want a new converter at that point . . .

I run a TFS cam with 1.7 rockers but I also have heads and an intake to take advantage of it. Works great with my combo above 4000rpm.
