Nice, get used ot it.LOL.hahaha, no way man. it's not hard, but i hate the down time on my car. i think i'm going to pick up one of those xb1a powerdynes. although still not a vorteh, i think it being gear driven will take car of my problem for good, and if i can find it affordable, it will be my cheapest way to upgrade. i bet another blower company would clean up if they made i head unit for the people who bought powerdyne kits that would bolt right into the powerdyne bracket.

No doubt. I would do the XB1a too. Damn an internal belt....leaves those to Polaris.LOL.

Ok, in my ever increasing curiosity in learning new things...is that a belt that come all to pieces?

Yep.

yep, it's about a 2" wide belt that turns the blower inside. funny thing is, that belt is what powerdyne has always pitched as a good reason to own one. that happened with out over spinning the blower (much anyway), and they say they'll last forever if you don't overspin. that blower has been on my car since june, bought new. and the car hasn't been driven for 4 months because of another issue. that belt/bearing set had about 5k miles on it.Ok, in my ever increasing curiosity in learning new things...is that a belt that come all to pieces?

Anybody have part numbers on the bearings for these things? seem to be normal bearings, i'm sure i could pick them up somewhere cheap. (other than powerdyne)

try an electric motor company , I used to work for one and they keep tons of bearings like that in stock- or try tractor supply. Good Luck

The bearing numbers should be stamped on the side of the bearing. Advance should be able to run a cross for them. If it's a Bower/National number it will start with like LM or M followed by a 5 or 6 digit number. Powerdyne may have also used a Timken bearing, but I can't remember what their part numbers look like. Make damn sure you change the race, that's the part that wears the most even though you can't see the wear. If you can't get them through an auto parts store, their are always bearing specialty shops. We had Miller Bearing in Daytona, probably have something similiar here.

If you are running 10lbs of boost through a Powerdyne get used to it. If you really want to run that much boost, I recommend you run a better head unit. Don't forget that your blower is up stream of your engine. If it decides to vomit parts, it's going to end up in your engine.

Just curious, but why would you choose a Powerdyne when buying a brand new blower? Or did you get a deal on it?

decent, 1800, not great. but i figured i'd be happy with it, never having a car with a blower on it before, i figured 6-8lbs of boost would keep it reliable and all be good. done over, i'd buy a vortech in a heartbeat, and may still eventually. and it really can be put back together in under an hour with not much work, the only hard part has been finding the bearings, which i could spend a little more and get off ebay i'm sure. while there are better blowers out there i don't think for 1800 i could have gotten a better one new (although a used vortech would have been fine) and i did the motor and blower all at once so i was tapped out on available cash to put toward it.Just curious, but why would you choose a Powerdyne when buying a brand new blower? You could have bought a ls1 instead and made more power

i actually thought about it, then realized people would see me in a chevy and a little extra power isn't worth that! hahahaYou could have bought a ls1 instead and made more power

That and you already have had one part fail; can you really afford to waste money again?

sameblower they sell for a chevy. heck, it may have been the motor if it were a chevy, then i'd really be screwed. hahahahaThat and you already have had one part fail; can you really afford to waste money again?

the most fustrating part is i have an ignition problem i can't find in the car. this was fustrating, but i knew it was coming eventually, and it's fixable realativly cheap. i will trade a problem i can fix for one that i can't track down anytime (my ignition woes) .plus, it looks worse than it is. lolThat could make you sick to your stomach. I bet it did. Huh, priestsgt???

here it is after a little cleaning-

As you know your cheapest option is to install a new belt and buy a spare for when it fails again.
As for your ignition problem; what is it again. I believe you mentioned it before.

i'm going to try and replace the distributor next. but anytime i connect my ignition box (been through 3 mallorys and a msd so ruled out faulty box) it will run normal for maybe 5-15 miles. then it starts sputtering and the tach attached to the box starts going crazy. i unhook the box and it runs perfect. i'm using a plug in wire harness checked connections over and over, and have power and ground ran directly to the battery, changed coils, wires, cap/rotor ect. i've heard it could be bad staor in the distibutor so i'll try that next. oh, and i'll have a belt and bearings on hand for next time. hahahaAs you know your cheapest option is to install a new belt and buy a spare for when it fails again.

Sounds like the ignition module to me as that is what the MSD box gets it's crank signal from.
Smart move having spare parts for the blower.

Thats the other thing i am going to replace. i couldn't remember what it was called. pare parts for the blower is a no brainer until i have the money to upgrade it.Sounds like the ignition module to me as that is what the MSD box gets it's crank signal from.

Do the module first and just pull the distributor to see if the lower bearing is shot. as long as it spins freely and has no wobble it should be fine.
