brian,
i see no way for you to beat the ranger.im sorry but pete is a real racer.you are just a mouth piece.
in your case it wouldnt matter if you had a car that was half a second faster because pete will kill you on the tree.....leave your balls in your womans purse on sunday or else they will be carried home in the back of a ranger
Like the title says, whats gonna happen?
How am I going to fit all my crap, and a 3650 in the back of the truck sunday? Hey, who knows what time the track opens?

And then out smack talks him when the beatings are complete.....I could be completely wrong here .........Nahhhhhhh Im right , but it will be fun to watch in any event....I will be there

That's usually what happens to me.... LOL. But I didn't put together a 9.20 car, either. Mine ran 9.20's in the 1/8th before we took it apart. That way, Pete was just kinda "pickin' on the retarded kid" if you will. If you put together a 9-sec car and Pete out MPH's and out ET's you, I'd just leave your helmet on. It's gonna get harsh right about that time. LOL.....:taptap:

You will at least have a tire advantage because Pete usually only runs on McCrearys so you may out 60' him but you better keep your foot to the floor and be able to shift really, really fast!

Thats what he said in another thread. He believes that with some bigger pills and some seat time he can go low 9's. Im waiting to see what his first time slips say. Those are some lofty expectations. That would have to be one healthy 331 to run that kind of # even with a huge shot of spray and an auto, let alone he's gotta manual 6 speed tranny. Thats about a 5.80 in the 1/8th. I guess we will see when he posts his times.

healthy 331!! not quite it only made around 360 or a little more to the tires in a 3000# stick car it might go mid 7's if it 60's real good no way will that combo ever go 9's much less low 9's.... i bet his first 1/8th mile might be the closest he ever comes to a 9 sec time slip:cross:

That's my thoughts too Tom. But ole Brian is a magazine reader that bought all these parts after reading articals and reading magazine numbers. He's just excited and has high expectations. I think everybody's been there at one time in our life, unless you were lucky enough to build your own engines from the get go and learn what combos really work together to make the numbers you want. He has a decent 331, I've seen better, but he chose the parts and that combos not going to meet his expectations. But he'll have fun with it and learn from it. Maybe.....

took the car to twiggs last night. my 60' foots were killin me. best of the night was a 1.77 but most were 1.88.
i went 7.98 7.96 and 7.95 @ 85-89. thats all motor no spray. with some 1.94 1.88 and 1.77 60' fts.
my best 60'ft was actually not my fastest pass.
it was fun. the track down there was very very loose on the top end. i didnt wanna spray with the track conditions there.
it was a long night last nite. also we redoned the car with the new toys. well my goal was almost met just shy of it. it put down 387RWHP and 393 RWTQ. we someone lot a little on the spray with torque. with a 100 shot it put down 488RWHP and 514RWTQ.
i think thats some good 10.5's in the quarter with a good 60ft.

hey lucky... you pretty much hit the nail on the head with that hammer. i did a lotta reading and not enough experience. with what i know now and wish i knew it then.... i would have went much bigger for the same $$$. but hey at least its a good start. gotta learn to drive faster so i can go bigger.
in the end ill be happy with my first 10 sec slip. then we will go from there. for now the car is fun and it sounds good. im having a good time and thats all that matters really.

your current combo will never go bottom 9's i don't care what suspension you have or tires... does not make enough power!!! 89 mph does not equal 380rwhp
Shankin

Hp vs Et
I have gone 7.40s at 90 mph with 330 rwhp
5.0 joe and myself have both gone 6.80s at 103 with 390 hp
and 6.20s at 113 with that same combo on 200 pills. Both cars were not gutted but had no ac or ps. I think that car will go 7.50s on motor and 6.50s on the gun with a good driver but 9s is a ways off.

10.14 by my math but your going to have trouble shifting a normal straight drive on nos at those speeds.; my old car went 10.70s on a 5 speed on 1 stage and was having enough trouble driving it to not hit 2nd kit. put a c4 in it went 10.30 not really having to drive it. i see you having trouble shifting it fast enough mine was a pro shifted tremec

Vortech used the 1.56 multiplier (which I happen to like) which came out to 10.14.
What all did you change? I know it wasn't just the anderson power pipe.
Maybe once you get the shifting down the MPH will come up. I think just about everyone has had a 300-330 rwhp car that trapped 85-90. Mine only made 270 to the tires and went 87ish.

Loose on the top end??? WTF your only going 7.90's in the 1/8th on MT DRAG RADIALS??? Your going to put her in the wall when you spray it on slicks if you think it was loose with those tires...
You need MEGA seat time before you spray it on slicks JMHO-or just make sure you have a bye runs when you attempt it...
No sense in rushing to get my car together to race you ;)

well its also my first time on slicks..... even scott and several other said it was very slick on the top end.
i was at e-town today. well it got better my best of the day so far was a 7.84 @ 90.14 with a 1.74 60 ft.
so not to shabby. also e-town i could tell a difference it was night and day at the end of the track. i think part of the looseness was from my shifting, it would load and unload the suspension so to cause the car to shift side to side from the flex in the tires.
it was great to see everyone out there that came. i look fwd to it again and hope to get faster.
ya more seat time before spray

what i think is funny is that you say in your sig home of brian mitchell. ive actually talked to him quite a few times at nmra events. hes a very nice guy. i believe i bought my poly locks from him at the track one day, also i think i got a set of comp pro mag rockers from him also...... however you on the other hand are a douch bag.

They are not drag radials. They are the old school Mt Et streets. I believe a lot of the loose on the other end he is referring to was simply the sway of the tires (squirm) Some of the High Hp cars (5sec.) rides were getting a little loose on the big end , but should have been a non-issue for Brian , I dont see his car breaking et streets loose at the mph in 3rd gear on the big end of the track

Hey brian97cobra how much air pressure were you running? a lot of people run their tires lower than necessary which contributes to "side wiggle" as we used to call it.

Trust me when I tell you that you only saw what he showed you. Had you turned on the nitrous you still would have been just a little bit behind at the finnish line. Just enjoy your car and get some seat time. Sounds like it runs fine to me and with some more practice you'll get quicker. Then after you get comfortable on the nitrous, Ill bring the Scamp out and run you on motor vs. you on the spray. That should be a good race.

i think a lotta the wiggle is just my inexperience of never driving on et streets. ive always had a radial tire. no wiggle even @ 130 on the street. the fastest ive been on the track before was a 13.69 @105 with a 2.1 60ft on 17" tires. so this is kinda a big jump for me. once i get the hang of this car on the motor ill spray it.
for those that care i appreicate all the support and advice given.

well for all the e/t samples.... I just let Coupe do what he wants.... and with one of my old "STREET cars", went 7.24 @91 mph with a stock pee wee motor (round guy) that only made 320RWHP.
I kinda knew it was going to be a lil tough for ya Brian.... you dont have any experience, and a 5 or 6 speed on top of that..... if the car was a lot lighter and a lot more efficient it could go a good bit faster on motor with some good shifting, but when you go to spraying a bunch, the clutch shifting hits a wall no matter who you are.
And the whole 1.54-1.56 multiplying 1/8th to 1/4 times is a decent start BUT, blower & turbo cars generally do a little better than that and nitrous cars sometimes dont do as well as the 1.55, alot has to do with the 60ft, the converter and amount of power per 1/8th e/t.... but 1.55 is a decent guess, you could say, keeping these mentioned things as an adjuster.
For instance, the street car mentioned above would out 330', a car that would run nearly .4 tenths faster in the 660' and the same car would not come close to 1320' what the 1.55x1/8th mile e/t calculator said.
what i think is funny is that you say in your sig home of brian mitchell. ive actually talked to him quite a few times at nmra events. hes a very nice guy. i believe i bought my poly locks from him at the track one day, also i think i got a set of comp pro mag rockers from him also...... however you on the other hand are a douch bag.
so im not a top racer. ive stated several times that i havent had any seat time in over 3 years. this is also the fastest car ive ever owned......so back the fuck off.
boo hoo!!!

great info stoney. ya like i stated earlier im a noob to racing a car that actually has some balls. so it will take time to learn my car and to get down the shifting more. i hope to take the car to commerce this friday. id like to weight her and see what it comes in at with me in it and without.
so for now im just gonna go all motor until i get good with it, then spray it. maybe ill get coupe to make a few pulls down the track with it and see what happens. i trust him in my car.

Thats a smart thing to do! About 35 yrs ago when I was running NHRA -SS/E, I had a true High 9 sec. car, but I was a 11 sec driver. (the record was a 9.56). I had a local Pro Stock driver drive my car and he ran a 9.70 first time out with the same set up. By the end of the season i was down to a 10.23. We switched to an Art Carr TH400 and i was able to dip into the 9s. Hell back then even my wife could shift faster than i could!

yea id love to see someone like scott(coupe) drive my car and see what he can get outta her. that would give me a goal to achieve and it would be realistic because it was run in my car. i just would need the time to master the skills.
it was a great time. i thought it was funny.... ppl were askin about me at twiggs and at e-town, saying i bet he dont show and whats up with his car and shit... you get the idea. i got a laught outta it anyways.

Hey CPC (dan) can you scan in a pic of the cover you made with your old car and post it? being just a little pee wee shop I thought you might share what a lil 302 with a carb and 1 plate kit can do :)
You are a being a little bit sensitive, all Dave was saying was that with the power level that you have it will be difficult to get in the 9s,unless you could take a lot of weight out of your car. But when you start insulting my shop you are are making a mistake, as we have built not only NMRA world champions but also Fun Ford and NMCA,so before you pop off I ran 9.20s with a 309ci 3100lb mustang on a single plate kit I also did K Ingrams 310ci single plate NMCA stuff that weighted 3150 that also ran low 9s on one single plate kit! So don`t get your pantys in a wad that easy. Dan

theres a difference in being informative and being an asshole. so whoever was on this cpc name was being a cocky smart ass. i dont care if u were doing engines for john force or anyone else. i mearly stated that you say home of brian mitchell. he is a nice guy and a pleasure to talk to. however you or anyone else on this name do yourself a favor and just dont post in this thead about me. your comments are non productive and arent helping.

Hey Brian you need to chill-you pretty much brought all this on yourself by acting cocky about your car and how it would perform at the dragstrip.
Calling people names and making fun of their speed shops is not helping you either.
Just some friendly advice...
That should be a good race.

also for the record guys i did cut some pretty damn good lights. i ran a .598 light and on the pro tree i ran a .496 once. i was running a full tree most of the time.

Also you are the one that brought up my shop which takes this to a more personal level, and sometimes Dave takes a different tact when talking to people then I do,but that is not to say that I don`t agree with his assment of your claims,as he was talking from experence which he has a lot of! So lighten up a little and enjoy your car and get some seat time as that will help more than anything. Dan

took the car to twiggs last night. my 60' foots were killin me. best of the night was a 1.77 but most were 1.88.
i went 7.98 7.96 and 7.95 @ 85-89. thats all motor no spray. with some 1.94 1.88 and 1.77 60' fts.
my best 60'ft was actually not my fastest pass.
You put it on the trailer to quick! :violin:
it was fun. the track down there was very very loose on the top end. i didnt wanna spray with the track conditions there.
I think most of your top end sway can be contributed to the bias ply tires on the back with your wide radials on the front. Get some skinnies for the front and a wheel that will clear your brakes in the back and let you get alittle more sidewall than those 17" ET Streets. Even a 26x10 would help if it were on a 15" rim.
I was making considerable quicker passes and the track wasn't absolutley horrible out there, seen better for sure though. :bouncy:
it was a long night last nite. also we redoned the car with the new toys. well my goal was almost met just shy of it. it put down 387RWHP and 393 RWTQ. we someone lot a little on the spray with torque. with a 100 shot it put down 488RWHP and 514RWTQ.
i think thats some good 10.5's in the quarter with a good 60ft.
You should get back down there and re-run that black coupe. Spray him next time! DO IT DO IT!

i did better at e-town. man twiggs is really far from me. took me a lil over 2 hrs to get home. i was like 115 miles one way.
i got some better 60' ft's and a little quicker times and more mph there. not much but a little. i cant make it to commerce this friday night as my wife got tickets to the braves game. however the friday after that is lookin good. also sunday i may venture down to e-town again.

Hey Brian I personally wouldnt contribute the faster times at e-town to the track conditions because e-town has really went to shit lately. I venture to guess the quicker times had more to do with you getting more comfortable with the car

i belive thats a part also. i did realize that my factory tach is WAY OFF. i was shifting early at twiggs. also some at e-town. also launching at lower rpms than i thought i was..... which contribuited to higher 60' ft's.
all in all i know ill get faster. i think i did pretty good for what i have and how long its been sense ive been in a mustang. right now im learning the car and then ill get the balls to spray it. for now i wanna play it safe and learn the car and how it acts. then got for the juice.

i have a phantom 5" tach im just not used to lookin at it. also the car cut off at 6050-6100 because of the factory rev limiter. i need to be shifting around 6300-6400 to bring the car back into its power band. but i cant do that til i hook up the pms or an rpm extender. so for now its all i can do. but there will be more improvements in the future.
it was a great time.
i need some times with a real sidewall... those 17's just dont cut it. but for now thats all the budget has to offer. but if someone has a set of 5 lugs with some 26x10R15's id love to slap them on and go to the track.

i think my driving has improved. a 1.74 60' ft is not to shabyy for some 17's with an untuned suspension and rookie driver.
pete won. we were close a few times. we raced like 3 times i think. i hot lapped a few times. pete was all serious. he would run once, and then let the truck cool for like 30-45 mins and cool it off with a spray bottle of water also. but that didnt matter to me. it was a great time and i had lots of fun.
