Those are beautiful Jimbo....

Can you imagine being around back in the day when a muscle car was a true "muscle car"?

My dad used to tell the best stories about when he was a teenager. He went to school with Gene...lol
Gene wasn't to happy to find that out...he wanted to know what all I knew.

Just curious appx what kind of ET's would the gassers in the pics have to run to be competitive in their class back in their day? I will admit to being clueless about early dragsters. Cool pics.....Why do the fronts set so high? Im guessing it has something to do with traction...having the weight already transferred to the rear. What are the tanks on the front?....Like I said Im clueless but curious so dont laugh lol

The sky high nose was the result of replacing the front suspension with the I-beam axle from an old Ford van typically, and the idea was to get the weight onto the back tires at rest. When you hit the gas, even a 300hp doo-doo car would hook & yank the tires. The motors sat back, the fronts sat high, and not too many evolutions later, the front axle got moved forward. What you ended up with was Funny Cars. Hmmm....

The tank on front was for the nitromethane. A lot of the racers just used that as their fuel cell. Take the rest out, and that little tank was to fire it up, burnout, make a pass, and then shut it down. Less weight, gravity fed, and the bare minimum you needed to go fast.
