fuel pressure reg

I have a gm prototype fuel injection system on my truck that im trying to get working. I put it on my truck straped it to the dyno and made about 60 more horses but that was with out a fuel pressure reg now that i put an aeromotive pressure reg on it at about 74 psi it will run fine for a day or two then it will act like the fuel filters cloged. i change it and it will run fine then do the same thing, My question is, could it be because i put the regulator on "up stream" or before the filter and its not getting full pressure to the filter
In case this isnt clear "should the reg go before or after the filter?"
