View Full Version : Advice needed-- 4.3 no start

Have a 92 1500 Chevy truck with a 4.3, that will crank, but not start. First noticed no fuel out injectors when cranking, checked for bad fuel pump, by sparying starter fluid in the TBI, didn't work. So I checked to see if it had spark, no spark either. Check the fuses and realys and all are good.

Started testing according to the Haynes Manual.. Checekd coil, pick up and igntion module. Coil checks out good, had igniton module tested, and it was good, and the pick up OHM'd at 856ohms.. ( hanyes showed 500-1500ohms to be good)
Where/what else can I test?????

How did you test the ignition module? Check for power and ground at the ecm. Also, check all of the connectors at the ecm, as well as the module.

Took the module to Advance Auto for testing.


& Will check power and ground at ECM,, thanks..

I don't know that I would trust their test. From everything you are saying, it sounds like the ignition module is bad.

I am thinking that or the pick up... But like mentioned, the pick is suppose to be between 500-1500 OHM's, and mine tested at 850's.. Might replace the igntion module 1st,for now, ince its allot easier to do that the pick up.

the injectors run off the module. so if you have no output on the module you won't get fuel or spark. a module can't be too expensive. it's where i would start.

temporally take test light to battery power and touch to purple/white wire @ module if it pules inj. then computer and wiring are good another quick check is to see if check engine light works with key on

Turned out to be the damn module,, :grguns: It was tested 4 times in a row and checked out good.!!!!! :rant3:

I don't know that I would trust their test. From everything you are saying, it sounds like the ignition module is bad.
seem's like the dumb ass nigga's at autozone allready know what you know .quit trying to be a tech. your a part's changer!
