DFT6 will be next Saturday, December 1st at Brainerd. Karen and I spoke on the phone regarding the reason DFT is being rescheduled. Below is her post from their forum that outlines our discussion:
A lot of factors were taken into consideration in the decision to reschedule DFT#6. The biggest one being track safety. With over two inches of rain in the past few days and cold temperatures, preparing the track for the type cars we were expecting ( high hp/small tire) was not feasible. The wet and cold conditions have kept the track from heating up. Also this time of year along with poor track adhesion, cleaning up spills are a problem. One major spill on a cold track could end the day. We will not put any racer on a unsafe race track.
Hope to see everyone next weekend.
I know many people have been looking forward to tomorrow and have made plans that may not be able to attend next week. One thing to keep in mind is DFT is for the kids, but without race participants, DFT would not be a success. The track has to keep in mind the racers' safety as well, and that is what they are doing.
The racers that are coming into town that would still like to race can run at I-40 Dragway on Sunday. I spoke with Jim, Jr. and appreciate him adding in classes for DFT racers to race in on a day that he already had races scheduled for. :nice: Jim, Jr. said he would forward the donations to us. By no means was I-40 trying to 'step-on-toes' by offering racers a place to come this weekend - they merely wanted to help by offering those racers who can't race next weekend a place to race this weekend and still help DFT6.
Although some things haven't went they way everyone has planned for, I hope all will try and keep a positive outlook on DFT6.
