1993 Ford Mustang Coupe, SN95 4 wheel disc, 5 lug setup. I am using SN95 axles (length). Fenders have been rolled a little. Looking for a 15x8, 15x9 weld or similiar wheel for some 28x10.5 inch slick. Need to know what back spacing is needed so they will clear the brakes? Someone told me in a PM but I must have deleted it because I could not find it? It seems if I need a 6.5 backspace I am only able to get it in a 15x10 wheel and I am thinking it will be too wide of a wheel with the big slicks.

15x10 with a 6.5bs works with factory fox axles. The sn95 axles your're gonna need a 15x8 with a 5.5bs or a 9 with a 6.5bs. You might can find a 15x10 with a 7.5bs. I ran into the same problem with my last fox. I ordered wheels like I would have for fox axles and come to find out the guy who owned it before me had installed sn95 axles. To be safe I would still take some measurements just to make sure.

15x8 with 5.5 fits perfect on stock axles. so ide so your gonna want alittle more back space. any 15" weld will clear rear gt brakes, really has almost nothing to do with back space.

Hey F8 a 15x8 with a 5.5bs is going to work? I really think I would like a 15x9 just to stretch the tire a little to get a bigger contact patch...but I don't think Weld carries a wheel with this measurment? I really do not want to do a spacer.
Ok well lets change gears...What other manufacturer can i go with it does not have to be Weld?

Bogart will custom make the right backspacing and correct fitment for you. Holeshot will also.

15x9 Drag Lites are only available in a 5.5" backspace. I am not sure about the rest of their line of wheels....

What the others said. Bogart, Holeshot and I think Billet specialties will custom make the offset you need. Basically, with the sn95 length axles in a fox body you will need one more inch of back space than you would with fox axles.

Thanks for the info. I think I forgot to mention that I am also a cheap bastard so a custom wheel probably would be way outside my budget of < $110 per wheel.

Woops.... new Welds are outside your budget, too. Ebay to the rescue!

Matt, I called a weld 'rep. He said the only 6 1/2 back spacing wheel comes in a 15x 10. They do not carry a new weld wheel 15 x 8 with a 6 1/2 back spacing. The most back spacing that 15 x 8 has is 5 1/2. tchrchip

I think with your car Matt, that a 28x10.5 is gonna give you fitment issues, unless your willing to hit the qtr.s with a big hammer. I would maybe go for a 28x9 on a 8" wheel. It should be more than enough to hook your car. I just know you have a nice car and may not want to disturb the paint.-Scott

Does anyone know if Weld sold that size at one time? Bugman didn't you say that you have some 15x8 with a 6.5 backspace? I would like to take you up on your offer about throwing some of those wheels on that you have. Are you going to have a crew around Buford on Friday? Sammy, my dad and me will be in our shop putting dad's car back together (blew the head gasket at Bugday).
Coupe the reason I was going to use a 28x10.5 is because Sammy gave me a pair with only 4 passes on them (they were free...thanks Sammy:spin: ). The fenders have already been rolled, but the inside the wheel well has not been touched.

Generally, it isn't something you want to do on a nice car starting out. And he's also going to find out that the rearend probably sits off to the left side just a little farther than the right. You don't notice that until you try squeezing a tire under it. I think if you want a 10" wheel, you may be able to put a 28x9 on it, and give you a little slack. If you like the look of an 8", put the 28x9 on that, and you'll have plenty of clearance.

Meh... we'll go test it out NORTH of Ga 20 where there are no walls. LOL....
PS- I can bring my 27.5 x 11 McCreary's with me (which are on a 15x9 w/ 5.5" BS) and we can test fit that.... If you already have the 5-lug setup.

I PM'n you the directions to the house. It's pretty easy to find.
I let you run it on the high boost, just be prepared for the street tires to break loose at 60mph. It tracks fairly well (except when the back end likes to come around the front)

What about a 15x9 or 15x8 with an 1" spacer? Is that getting too ridiculous as far as that big of a spacer? The biggest backspace they go is a 5.5. I guess I should have bought those 5 lug fox length axles afterall. This sucks!
Alex bring those wheels of yours I want to try them out please?

A 1" spacer will push the wheel out more, which isn't what you want.

I will bring them... but a 1" spacer (even if it DID work in the direction you wanted) is the fastest way to shear off all the studs that i can think of. Much thicker than 1/4" and you are playing with fire.

X2
Look at the pic of my white car it has a sn95 rear axle with 295 rear tire and they are way close to the quad shocks and you can see how they are at the wheel lip.
Wheel spacer are not what you want you'll probably cut your tires.
