As of now you can't get digital channels on a tv without a cable company provided box. If your other tv doesn't have a tuner in it use a vcr to change the channel.

I guess the digital is what I'm talking about. I figured there were spare boxes around.

i've been in a dispute with charter for about a week and just got it straigtened out yesterday.
if you could find a new box that hadn't been activated you could have all the free channels until they zap it. :)

I thought you only got one box then you had to pay monthly rent on extra boxes ? This is for a relative of mine that is sitting up a TV in the bedroom.
Is it not like regular old cable where everything you are not supposed to get is filtered at the pole ? I've been using sat stuff for so long I haven't kept up.

Just like satellite
each box for each different room is 9.95$ a month, they supply the box
And if you try to use a different box they can tell and will not let you use one of the boxs
You can get channels 1-99 with out having a box in unlimited amout of rooms
To get channels 100-999 you have to have a box on each Tv

Not unlimited. And they can't "tell" what box you have. If you have an HD built in tuner in your tv you can get the HD channels without a box OknowR paying for them. Just knowing what frequency to tune to.

Maybe I need to figure that out then. I think this TV does HD but it doesn't seem that it scans the HD channels. More info ?

Check in your user manual. It is a built in HD tuner. you can tune to specific frequencies. Like here the HD channels are between 90 and 92.
Does the TV not have an analog tuner in it to just get the basic expanded channels when you plug the cable from the wall into it?
