    Autocross racing in the area

Out of the auto-x courses in a 3 hour radius or so, what are the longest/fastest ones usually? I was told the one in Birmingham was pretty big, and it looks like that new one outside of Knoxville will be as well.

My car likes to stretch it's legs a bit, and while it can corner pretty darn well, it still isn't too competitive on very tighter courses (compared to the Miatas, MR2's, and the like).

Any opinions from those in the know? I'm trying to form some kind of schedule for the year. Thanks!

I'll end up running in ATL some this season. They have a big lot and host National style events. Too bad they aren't having a National Tour Stop. Anyways, they should have some good HP courses for you.
41,821 people were killed in auto accidents in 2000. In 2000, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported that police listed street racing as a factor in 72 fatal crashes. Does that seem like a big risk to you?

Cool. If you head down that way, let me know. I'll do a quick search and see what I can find as far as a schedule.

    Thanks for the info!

dude, I've ran in Nashville a few times... it has a few big straights on it... I got up to about 65ish a few times... it's at the Superspeedway, and it's on March 5th not 6th then they're pretty much every other weekend. I've never been to Knox... didn't know they had one there.

Nice! I plan on being there for the March 5th auto-x.

I've also ran into a few issues with max decibel levels with some places. Knoxville and Gwinnet Fairgrounds in Atlanta both have a 95dB limit, which my car will slaughter at half throttle, so those are out for me.

The Nashville has no limit since it's held at a racetrack to begin with.

Thanks for the info. Hope to see you in Nashville!

Alright then guys, hope to see you all out there! Last few turnouts there were good. over 50 to 60 cars, but we were all able to get atleast 6-8 runs in a piece. Oh, and we always try to go out to eat together afterwards so if you can stick around we'll go get wings and beer.

I think it would be better to head to Knoxville that day. I will be giving driving lessons to Bolton that day.....last time he got out of the car crying like a GIRL !!!!

    Hey Tony,

I'd actually rather be at Knoxville since I hear it'll be a faster track. I did just check out the thread and it looks like they won't enforce the sound limit, so I just may head that way instead.

I'm going to email them first and make sure they won't send me home packing... Other than things like this, I love the sidepipes. They're like a Harley, only in stereo!

Jake this is what I posted on the Tennessee Region board about your question.

ETR doesn't enforce sound limits at any of our current sites, but if it is anything comparable to a certain ImpalaSS with cutouts, it is too loud.

We would handle your car teh same as Brian would above. Run it once and if too loud, we'd tell you to cap it off next time you came out to run.

And if the car was just absolutely too loud to finish your runs, we'd give you a refund, most likely.
So I can't guarantee that you can run, but most likely you're okay. Very similar car to yous have run with no issues before, FWIW

ah, you guys should all just head to the Superspeedway where none of that matters... there's a pretty big course there too.

Ahhh.. Ok. I see now. I didn't realize your post over on the TRSCCA forum was from someone representing Knoxville autocross. I thought you were someone in Nashville.

I with ya now, though. Thanks for the info (and the relaxing of the rules!).
